Hestia Immobilier Group, which acquired the Sainte-Madeleine church last November, has been carrying out preparatory work on the site for some time now to allow its demolition soon.

“We are on the verge of taking an important step in this issue which has generated a lot of ink. We are preparing to give this site a makeover, which was abandoned for almost a decade. This will change the look of the place and will help revitalize the sector,” underlines promoter Jean-François Corbeil, president of Hestia Groupe Immobilier.

The City of Trois-Rivières issued the demolition permit to the developer.

The demolition permit having been issued by the City of Trois-Rivières. The demolition and site clean-up work is expected to take approximately two months.

For safety reasons, Hestia Immobilier Group asks citizens to stay away during demolition work to ensure that it goes smoothly. The site is not accessible to the public in order to avoid any incidents. Once the work is completed, Hestia Groupe Immobilier will begin the construction of affordable housing there.

“It is the result of several years of effort, visual pollution, police interventions… Those who have lived in the area know very well how much inconvenience this land has caused over the years. Now, we arrive with a great project,” commented recently the mayor of Trois-Rivières, Jean Lamarche.

An announcement will be made in the coming weeks to reveal all the details of this project. The promoter cannot make any reservations or respond to requests for information at this time.

Remember that the Sainte-Madeleine church was first sold in 2013 for $425,000 with the aim of building condos there. However, the project never saw the light of day and the building has since deteriorated, having not been subject to maintenance work by the owners.

In November 2020, the municipal council had also issued a notice of deterioration on the building located in Bas-du-Cap. This notice of deterioration thus made it known that “the building is in a state of unsanitary and dangerous conditions such that it poses risks for the safety of citizens. »
