On the 15th, the Democratic Party of Korea proposed amendments to the Prosecutor’s Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act, called the so-called ‘completely deprived of the prosecution’s investigative powers’.

The amendments include the transfer of the investigation authority for six major crimes, which was actually the prosecution’s investigation area, to the police, and a plan to suspend the enforcement of the law for three months.

Rep. Park Jumin explained, “We have changed the case so that the police can conduct a supplementary investigation rather than a direct investigation even following sending the case or sending the records as the police investigated.” The Democratic Party considered extending the grace period to six months as it was pointed out that the bill was too hasty without any alternatives, but it was maintained at three months as the original plan.
