This time, the mystery is lifted concerning the intriguing signs that recently appeared on rue du Progrès in Villers-le-Bouillet. This triangle illustrated by an elephant and subtitled with “Did you see me?” is part of a major marketing campaign initiated by the company Eurofiber. “We are working in collaboration with SOFICO which has deployed a fiber optic network in economic zones, explains Gilles Verschueren, head of business development at Eurofiber Belgium. We have invested with the aim of democratizing access for businesses and companies to this connectivity. Hence this marketing campaign to draw their attention to our offer. It begins with the installation of panels of this type to intrigue, with the elephant which is present on the logo of our company. Then, the companies will receive a letter and there will also be a call phase through a call center.”
“No need for authorization”
According to Gilles Verschueren, Eurofiber did not have to request authorization to install its promotional panels. “Because they only stay 5 days to a week before being removed, justifies the business development manager. I don’t know what’s going on this Monday in Villers-le-Bouillet. But if they haven’t already, they will be removed soon.” No contact is made in advance with the local authorities either. Which, in one of our previous articles on the subject, had quite taken aback François Wautelet, the mayor of Villers-le-Bouillet. “This is a one-off campaign, insiste Gilles Verschueren. We generally contact the authorities when there are questions. The Commons actually react quite differently. Some see it as original, others are surprised. After reading the article published in your columns this Monday, it is planned to contact the mayor of Villers.
Other mayors might ask themselves the same questions since this major marketing campaign started last spring will extend into 2024 to then cover all 254 zonings present in Wallonia.
