This Wednesday, December 20, general elections (municipal, provincial, legislative and presidential) are to be held in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Some 44 million voters are called to the polls in the 75,000 polling stations in this immense Central African country. While the 2018 elections resulted in the first democratic change in the country’s history, those of 2023 are a test for Congolese democracy. But as the campaign draws to a close, many doubts remain regarding the smooth running of the elections and their transparency. In Kinshasa, France 24 went to meet citizens and observers a few days before the election.
