Ahn Gwi-ryeong, spokesman for the Democratic Party’s full-time department, said at a briefing that day, “Neither Lee nor his lawyer, but a lawyer working at the same law firm as Lee’s lawyer received money from Ssangbangbang. The money has nothing to do with CEO Lee’s attorney fees,” he said.
Previously, in 2018, while serving as Gyeonggi Governor, Lee was suspected of paying a large amount of fees to lawyers in charge of his violation of the Public Official Election Act in the form of convertible bonds from the Ssangbangwool Group.
