Democratic lawmaker warns Biden of serious concerns about his chances of beating Trump

“A second Trump term would undermine the foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns regarding whether President Biden can defeat him in November,” Schiff, who joined a growing number of fellow Democrats calling on Biden to drop out of the race, told the Los Angeles Times.

Schiff said that if Democrats decided to keep the current president as their nominee, he would support the decision, but “he warned that the risks in that are very high.”

After Biden failed in the first televised debate with Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump at the end of last month, pressure began to mount in the Democratic camp to push Biden to abandon his presidential ambitions and make way for another candidate more capable of confronting Trump in the November 5 presidential election.

In contrast, Biden refused to withdraw from the presidential race and stressed that he would not withdraw from this race unless God ordered him to do so.

He urged divided Democratic lawmakers to unite around his candidacy amid ongoing speculation regarding his health.

Biden stressed that his “determination remains strong to continue the race for the White House,” according to what he wrote in a letter to Democratic representatives in Congress.

Although his debate with Trump was described as disastrous and laid the foundation for all those calling for him to step down, Biden attacked the rebels in his party, saying, “Those people who think I shouldn’t run, let them challenge me… at the Democratic Party Convention in August.”

“I don’t care what millionaires think,” he added, stressing that he was convinced he would have the support of “the average American voter.”
