This week, on Sunday, the branches of this party will finish proposing candidates to participate in next year’s presidential elections.

“These elections are very important for the Democrats, we are participating in the presidential elections for the first time. It is gratifying that more than one name is mentioned – it shows that we have something to choose from, we have more than one potential candidate with the competences needed for today’s Lithuania. And who we will finally delegate as the party’s candidate, we will announce on November 11”, said the head of the party’s election staff, Seimas member Lukas Savickas.

On November 11, the party’s presidential candidate will be approved by the “Vardan Lietuvos” council.

Presidential elections in Lithuania will be held next May.

The Democratic Union “Vardan Lietuvos” led by ex-premier S. Skvernelis was founded last January, after some politicians broke away from the Union of Lithuanian Peasants and Greens.
