The American commercial airline Delta Airlines announced that it will resume the Atlanta – Cartagena route as of December 2023.
The route will have 3 weekly frequencies, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Operations with the Rafael Nuñez international airport, in Cartagena, had been suspended during the pandemic and now Delta intends to strengthen connectivity with the country through this direct route.

With the announcement, a strong reactivation in tourism is expected, as well as new bets from airlines that want to strengthen air connectivity with the capital of Bolívar, in the Caribbean of Colombia.
In this regard, Natalia Bohórquez, executive president of Corpoturismo stated: “We are pleased with the news of the return of Delta Airlines to the direct Atlanta-Cartagena operation. With this announcement we are accessing the potential of one of the 10 largest airports in the United States, our main market.”
Also, Maria Claudia Gedeón, executive director of SACSA, which operates the Cartagena airport, spoke. “Thank you to Delta for your confidence in the region and we hope that this new route will be a success both for travelers and for the economic development of our city,” he said.
For his part, Martin St. George, commercial vice president of Lata Airlines Group, in the most recent edition of the Delta news hub, expressed: “We are grateful for the response of customers who are choosing Delta and the Latam group. These new routes and additional services, combined with our frequent flyer benefits, will provide even more ways to discover and do business in these markets.”

Other airlines such as Avianca, Arajet / Air Century, JetBlue, Latam, Plus Ultra and Spirit connect Cartagena with other destinations in the United States, Central America, South America and Europe.
