In Héron, the butcher-charcutier Damien Boca bought at auction Roberta, a cow of the Limousine breed of 998 kilos. During the agricultural fair of Libramont, the animal received the prize of excellence for its meat quality. The animal was bred in Ciney, at the Mossée breeding farm, at Rabeux-Cassart.
The Limousine is progressing and the Blanc Bleu Belge is not decreasing
In the Boca butcher’s display, the Belgian Blue and Limousine breeds are side by side. Damien Bouché explains: It is not a competing meat. The Blanc Bleu Belge has always been the first sale in our butcher shop. We arrived with the Limousin progressing and we see that the Blanc Bleu is not decreasing. Instead of being a competitor, it is a complement. Many families buy both Blanc Bleu and Limousin.
A European competition in May 2024
Vincent Rabeux, president of the Herd Book Limousin, announces that the 1st European Limousine and Salers breed competition will take place on May 3, 4 and 5, 2024 in Libramont. Twenty-one European countries are invited to present their best animals.
