2023-09-14 06:51:49

This time, it was the Alliance school, a free network school located in Monceau sur Sambre, which was the victim.

It is difficult at the moment to determine whether this fire is linked to the four other fires that occurred yesterday, already in Carolus schools. Establishments where we then found anti-EVRAS tags engraved on the facades. EVRAS, named following these two hours per year now compulsory in 6th primary and 4th secondary of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, relating to education in relational, emotional and sexual life.

This Thursday morning, the police confirmed to us the criminal origin of last night’s disaster, without yet being able to specify any link with those of the day before.

What do we know regarding this new fire?

The Charleroi police chief is categorical: the fire was deliberately put out last night around 2 a.m. The Charleroi public prosecutor’s office has therefore been informed of the event and the federal judicial police laboratory will be on site very soon. The goal: to determine if there are any similarities between this fire and those that occurred the previous night in the four other schools in Charleroi.

The intervention took place in the dark, but for the moment, no “Anti Evras” tag has been found this time, but the investigation will explore this avenue.

Concerning the extent of the damage, it is significant but probably localized, explains Laurent Van Doren, the head of the Charleroi police. “The damage is significant in the boiler room premises (…) On the other hand, the teams tell me that a priori, the classes would be operational to welcome the children this morning.

The school management has, for its part, not yet reacted. In view of these new events, the police have in any case already announced that they will maintain their increased surveillance in Charleroi for next night.
