New Delhi – BJP and AAP are locked in a fierce fight in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. The lead is changing as the counting of votes progresses. According to national media reports, AAP is leading in 118 seats out of 250. BJP is leading in 126 seats and Congress in five seats.
Exit polls predicted a landslide victory for AAP. The Aam Aadmi Party workers are worried regarding the infighting going on while they are preparing for the victory celebration. Elections were held for 250 wards on Sunday. In 2017, BJP had 181, AAP 48 and Congress 30.
BJP and AAP have fielded a total of 250 candidates each. Congress has 247 candidates. 382 independents are also contesting. Mayawati’s BSP contested in 132 wards, NCP in 26 and JD in 22 seats.
AAP, which has ruled Delhi for two terms, is hoping to win at least 200 seats. All four exit polls predicted that AAP would get more than 155 seats. It is predicted that BJP will get 84 seats and Congress will get reduced to 7 seats. MCD was ruled by BJP for 15 years.
