Two of Delhaize’s own stores are still closed on Wednesday morning, as part of the labor dispute arising from the announcement, on March 7, by management of its intention to franchise the 128 stores of the lion brand’s integrated network. in Belgium.

These two supermarkets are those of Mons and Ixelles-Flagey, closed at the very initiative of Delhaize, for security reasons, according to a spokesperson.

This Wednesday, no store is therefore closed because of the union movement of protest at the will of franchising of the management.

Delhaize had decided to close for a few days (at least this Tuesday and Wednesday) the stores in Mons and Ixelles-Flagey due to “acts of vandalism which do not guarantee the safety of workers and customers”, explained the sign, without giving more details. The seriousness of the facts is such that some employees have decided to file a complaint. Staff from these two stores wishing to work are invited to work in other branches. Those who do not want to work have been told to go on strike or take time off.

In addition, a new meeting, this time without a mediator, will bring together Delhaize management and unions on May 2.
