Delays in processing applications for German study visas, students worried – Pakistan

The German Embassy has announced that it will process only those applications submitted for student visas that it deems genuinely deserving.

In a statement, the embassy said that the number for the winter semester has been reached.

According to an English newspaper, many students say that they have been admitted by German universities but are not being called for an interview by the German embassy in Islamabad.

The students say that the appointment system has been opened on May 21 but the applications given through Normal Tech are not being called for interviews. So far it seems that only fast track applications are being invited for interviews.

Many students say that there are difficulties in processing and the costs are also very high. The communication section of the German embassy has said that this year only those applications related to state university scholarships or excellent school and undergraduate results will be processed on a priority basis.

Abdullah Yasin, a former student of Bahria University Islamabad, says that after graduation in 2022, he had submitted applications to several German universities. His admissions kept getting canceled due to visa issues. Abdullah Yasin had spent three lakh rupees on visa processing.

The German Embassy says that scholarship holders and PhD students will be given preference. Also, preference will be given to students with an overall grade point average of 3.7.
