Al-Marsad newspaper: Dr. Roni Abboud, a nutritionist, revealed the substance “Shilajit”, which contains more than 84 minerals, and has many therapeutic benefits, and is considered one of the materials used in the traditional Indian medicine system as a rejuvenator and anti-aging.
He explained that “Shilajit” is a sticky, black, tar-like substance that comes from rocks in high mountain ranges, and can be found in the Himalayas, Tibet, Russia and Afghanistan, and was formed over centuries as a result of the slow decomposition of plant materials and rocky secretions.
Abboud describes shilajit as a plant product rich in humic and fulvic acids, in addition to zinc and iron, which gives it many advantages such as the ability to fight inflammation and oxidation, improve the body’s immunity and enhance energy and memory, as researchers believe that it may prevent or slow down the development of Alzheimer’s disease and help in delaying aging.
He added: It is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it can help people who suffer from “anemia” as it is rich in “iron”, which prompted some to call it “mountain blood”.
He stressed that “Shilajit” needs more large studies on humans to confirm its role in treating diseases.
Shilajit is extracted from the high mountains of the Himalayas, which was recommended by the “Prince of Doctors” Ibn Sina, and some described it as “mountain blood”.
