The tram site managers announced on April 5th that the second phase of work on Boulevard de la Sauvenière was set to begin on April 11th. This phase would bring significant changes to traffic on the boulevard, with it being “switched” to the other side of the road towards rue Saint-Gilles. However, as of April 11th, the new road did not yet exist, which caused confusion and frustration. Despite blaming the Easter weekend, some have questioned the communication from the tram site managers. The second phase has now been postponed until May 2023. Once completed, the detour will be set up via Place Xavier-Neujean and Rue Hamal to reach the Opera roundregarding. Shops and car parks will remain accessible.
On April 5, the managers of the tram site announced that the second phase of work on Boulevard de la Sauvenière would begin on Tuesday April 11. This was to constitute significant changes in traffic on the boulevard since it was to “switch” to the other side of the roadway, in the direction of Opéra towards rue Saint-Gilles.
The vehicles therefore had to take a new road that did not exist last week. And it still doesn’t exist on April 11. The feat was therefore not achieved by the workers of the tram. And we can’t blame them, especially since there was the Easter weekend… We nevertheless wonder regarding the communication of the managers of the tram site who announced the launch of this second phase for this Tuesday , which seemed totally impractical. They have officially announced the postponement of this one to the beginning of May 2023.
As a reminder, therefore, when this road network has been completed, the construction site will switch to the Opera side of Boulevard de la Sauvenière, between Place Verte and Rue de la Montagne. Coming from boulevard d’Avroy, from rue de la Montagne, it will no longer be possible to continue straight on boulevard de la Sauvenière towards the Opera. A detour will be set up via Place Xavier-Neujean and Rue Hamal to reach the Opera roundregarding. This diversion will also be used by buses on lines 1 and 48. The shops and the Neujean and Opéra car parks will remain accessible.

The detour that will be set up via Place Xavier-Neujean and Rue Hamal to reach the Opera roundregarding will also be used by buses on lines 1 and 48. Despite the delay, the shops and the Neujean and Opéra car parks will remain accessible throughout the construction period. Stay tuned for further updates on this ongoing project.
