Ahead of their rivalry football game, the Battle of the Blue, Delaware Football and Villanova Football both saw a boost in their rankings in the Week 12 NCAA FCS Football Coaches Poll.
Delaware rose two spots to No. 6 as the 8-2 Blue Hens eye a CAA conference title.
Meanwhile the Wildcats continue to climb in the rankings, moving from No. 18 to No. 15. Villanova didn’t enter the rankings until Week 9. They can also win the CAA this weekend.
There are four teams in the CAA with 6-1 conference records heading to the final week and three of them are in the rankings. UAlbany Football is 8-3 overall and moved up two spots to No. 23. UAlbany faces Monmouth this weekend.
Richmond Football, who travels to William & Mary this weekend, is the fourth team that can win the conference. The Spiders are unranked.
2023 Villanova vs Delaware
Last season, the CAA sent the most teams to the FCS playoff, which begin on Nov. 25. Selection Sunday for FCS is Nov. 19.

FCS Playoffs 2023 Outlook
Twenty-four teams will advance to the FCS playoffs in 2023. Ten of those teams will automatically qualify for the playoffs via conference titles. Those conferences are:

The Ivy League does not enter the FCS playoffs, meaning No. 19-ranked Harvard won’t be in the field. If the season ended on Nov. 6., South Dakota State would likely be the overall No.1 seed and Delaware would be the CAA automatic qualifier.
