The Indonesian mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja stopped in the semifinals of the 2024 China Open (China Open) after losing to host representatives Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping.

Competing at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Saturday (21/9), Dejan/Gloria faced the second seed in the doubles with a final score of 16-21, 15-21 which made them eliminated from the BWF Super 1000 tournament. Dejan/Gloria put up impressive resistance in the first game, but the tension that occurred in the second game made the pair make many unforced errors.

While Dejan/Gloria were eliminated, the two Red and White representatives will still fight to win tickets to the 2024 China Open final.

The Indonesian men’s doubles team, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, is awaited by the seventh seeded Malaysian representative, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin. Meanwhile, the seventh seed in men’s singles, Jonatan Christie, will face Chinese representative Weng Hong Yang.

Jonatan became Indonesia’s only representative in the men’s singles after Anthony Sinisuka Ginting lost to the eighth seed from Thailand Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the quarter-finals, Friday (20/9).

Ginting lost after going through three long games 21-10, 11-21, 19-21.

“It’s unfortunate, but it can’t be denied that we really struggled with the condition of the field after the third game interval. That’s what Kunlavut felt in the first game and I felt in the second game,” said Ginting in his official statement.

“I’ve tried, but there aren’t many choices on how to play. Tried to be more attacking, more reckless but it hasn’t worked.”

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto also experienced the same fate, who had to lift their suitcases in the quarter-finals, leaving Fikri/Daniel in the men’s doubles sector. Fajar/Rian stopped after being blocked by Malaysian representatives Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi 21-14, 17-21, 14-21. (Z-6)
