This emerges from the evacuation plan that the police published on Wednesday evening.

Police spokesman Marko Laske (48) to BILD: “Around 3,300 residents are affected by the measures.” In addition, nobody is allowed to enter or work in the area marked red during the defusing.

If the defusing continues in the evening, the Pichmännel Oktoberfest in the flood channel on Thursday will also fall through.

There are several areas marked in yellow in the red area (see map above). One is the Dresden-Friedrichstadt Hospital. There is no evacuation in the yellow areas.

Laske: “But the buildings must not be left.” In addition, people are only allowed to stay in rooms that are on the side facing away from where the bomb was found. This means that many patients in the clinic have to be transferred.

The following emergency shelters are available for the people who have been evacuated from Dresden: Exhibition hall 1 and the gymnasium 35. Oberschule am Badweg. Bus shuttles run from 7 a.m. from the main entrance of the hospital and at the corner of Walterstrasse and Waxbleichstrasse.

Defusing can only begin once the evacuation is complete. When this will be is currently unclear!

The bomb find

An excavator operator uncovered the bomb on Wednesday morning during earthworks on the former industrial site.

“The specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service examined the 250-kilogram American-made aerial bomb in detail. It turned out that the bomb’s head fuse was significantly deformed,” said police spokesman Laske.

The detonator is now to be separated on Thursday with a so-called water cutting system. This is dangerous!
