As the head of the Russian private military company highlighted, as of May 25 Wagner will begin to withdraw his units to retrain and create “the necessary lines of defense.” Control of the city will pass into the hands of the Russian military, Prigozhin said.
He also thanked Generals Sergei Surovikin and Mikhail Mizintsev, who “made it possible to carry out this difficult operation.”

One of the Wagner Group fighters told Sputnik that the assault units had reached the road leading to the Kiev-controlled town of Ivanovo, which became the home stretch of the battle for Artiomovsk.
Artiomovsk is located in the Donetsk People’s Republic. It was an important transport center for the supply of the group of Ukrainian troops in Donbas.
Known for decades as Artiomovsk and still called that in Russia, the city of Bakhmut was for months a focus of bloody fighting because of its importance for the supply of Ukrainian troops in Donbas.
