After a call launched by opposition organizations began to circulate, in which they called on the population to participate in the “March for our democracy”, with Lorenzo Córdova, former president of the National Electoral Institute (INE) as the only speaker, the presidential candidate of the We Continue Making History coalition (Morena, PT and PVEM), Claudia Sheinbaum, maintained that “now they have completely removed their mask,” and stressed that what the opponents seek is to defend a simulated democracy.

Asked regarding it during a press conference in Durango, the Morenista said that said call “is to finish removing the mask that they are for an electoral system controlled by them. That is what shows that this person is the main speaker. Because It is not that they are defending democracy, they are defending that the electoral body be controlled by them, that is, it is the best reflection that what they defend is anti-democracy or simulated democracy.”

Although the organizers’ call is that “the INE should not be touched,” he insisted that “what they want is for this institute to continue to be controlled by them.”

The call was launched by groups such as Unid@s, #MareaRosa and the National Civic Front, for the march that is planned for next February 18, during the inter-campaign period, when the electoral law prohibits political activities.
