“Defection in Koodatai Massacre Case: Shocking Testimony from Former CPM Leader in Kozhikode”

Kozhikode : Defection in the notorious Koodtai massacre case. The 155th witness in the case, CPM local leader Praveen Kumar, a native of Kattangal, defected in favor of the accused. Praveen is the former local committee secretary of Kozhikode Kattangal. He testified in court in favor of Jolly, the first accused in the case, and Manoj Kumar, the fourth accused. This is the first time a person has defected in the case.

Manoj Kumar is the fourth accused in the case of preparing a fake will along with Jolly. Praveen gave a statement that he knew him closely who was a panchayat member earlier and had worked together for 15 years. He was also proficient in signing as a witness on the police report during the collection of evidence. But he told the court today during the trial that he did not know the accused and did not sign any document given by the police. Today, the special court heard 46 people, including the brothers of the first accused Jolly. Out of this, only Praveen Kumar defected.

On October 4, 2019, a grave in the Kotanchery St. Mary’s Forona church was opened and examined to find the reason behind the mysterious six deaths in a family. On October 4, the bodies of Sili and daughter Alfine, who were buried at Kotanchery St. Mary’s Forona Church, and Tom Mathew, his wife Annamma, son Roy Thomas and Annamma’s brother Manchadyil Mathew, who were buried at Koodatai Lourdes Mata Church Cemetery, were exhumed. Later, the police confirmed that all six deaths were murders. It was found that the first accused Jolly killed Annamma Thomas by using dog kill poison and three others by giving cyanide.
