Defeated by New Zealand, Pakistan is out of the Paris Olympics

Pakistan’s hockey team has been eliminated from the Olympic race after losing to New Zealand in the ongoing Paris Olympics Qualifiers in Muscat on Sunday.

This is the third time in a row that the Pakistan hockey team has failed to qualify for the Olympics. Three-time Olympic gold medalist Pakistan had previously failed to qualify for Rio 2016 and Tokyo Olympics 2020.

In this important match played in Muscat, New Zealand has defeated Pakistan by three goals to two.

Earlier, in the semi-final played on Saturday, January 20, Germany defeated Pakistan by four to zero.

However, Pakistan had another chance on Sunday to keep their hopes alive by defeating New Zealand, but it was not to be.

Abu Mehmood scored goals in the 18th and 24th minutes for Pakistan against New Zealand, while Boyd Scott scored two goals in the 24th and 58th minutes for New Zealand. Apart from them, Ingles Hugo also scored a goal in the 52nd minute.

The last group match of the Pakistani team, which reached the semi-finals of the ongoing qualifier round in Muscat, was against the Militia, which ended in a 3-3 draw.

After defeating Pakistan, New Zealand now joins Great Britain and Germany among the qualifying teams for Paris 2024.
