The Sparrowhawks of Togo were beaten a goal to nil (1-0) this Friday, March 24 in Marrakech in Morocco as part of the third day of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2023 football.
The only goal of the game was scored in the 87th minute through the Burkinabè Abdoul Tapsoba who in a scramble in the Togolese area, sends the ball with a whim into the back of the Togolese goalkeeper’s net.
In a match more or less balanced and dominated at times by the Togolese, the multiple offensives of coach Paulo Duarte’s foals were not converted into goals as desired.
Togo is therefore still in trouble in these qualifiers with only one point taken in three days. “We don’t deserve to be in this situation,” said coach Paulo Duarte following the match.
The Eperviers also miss the opportunity to relaunch in this group while waiting for the fourth day scheduled for March 28 at the Kégué stadium in Lomé still once morest the Etalons of Burkina Faso.
After three days in this group B, Burkina Faso is the leader with 09 points followed by Cape Verde with 04 points, Eswatini with 02 points. Togo is still last with one point.
