The French music streaming platform, Deezer, has announced that it has developed technology that allows it to identify songs that reproduce the voices of musical stars using artificial intelligence.
“Our goal is to remove illegal and fraudulent content, increase transparency and develop a new revenue distribution system that rewards professional artists for creating valuable content,” Deezer President Geronimo Folguera said in a statement to the platform. He added, “This is why we are developing tools to monitor content developed by artificial intelligence.”
Folgueira pointed out that this system aims, first, to monitor songs in which “artificial voices of existing artists” are used.
He pointed out that this information will be used to inform artists, production companies, and users of the contents developed by artificial intelligence through the platform, explaining that the new system seeks to develop a payment model capable of distinguishing between different types of musical creativity. This announcement comes at a time when artificial intelligence is booming rapidly, causing major changes in several sectors, including music.
In mid-February, the famous French DJ, David Guetta, caused a sensation following using artificial intelligence in a track that simulates the voice of rapper Eminem in one of his concerts.
