Deezer refreshes its image. The French music streaming giant, direct competitor of the Swedish Spotify, unveiled Tuesday November 7, 2023 at the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris “a new brand identity and a logo”, according to a communiqué distributed by the company.

Gone is the brand’s iconic colorful equalizer, and makes way for a new purple heart-shaped logo.

Deezer, « live the music »

Beyond the logo, the entire brand identity has been redesigned, “with an emphasis on shared experiences, as reflected in its new signature “live the music” (vivez la musique en français, ndr ),” explains Deezer.

The company, led since 2021 by Jeronimo Folgueira, wishes to reinvent itself to “become a platform centered on the experience, making self-expression and connection its fundamental values ​​to help artists, fans and partners to fully experience music, and to find their place.”

Improve user experience

On this occasion, Deezer completely overhauled its application and website to “improve the user experience”, without announcing major changes in the functionalities of its platform.

The French music streaming giant took the opportunity to rearrange its playlists for better visibility.

Changes made to “tell our story in a more emotional way, to connect music enthusiasts, artists and our strategic partners, using strong visual signs, which remind us that Deezer gives the possibility of experiencing music in an authentic way”, added Maria Garrido, marketing director of Deezer.

3.5 million subscribers worldwide

Founded in Paris in 2007, Deezer currently has more than 600 employees worldwide, spread across France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil and the United States. The French platform is available in 180 countries.

Deezer is the second largest music streaming platform in France, with 34% market share, compared to 44% for Spotify (and 32% for Music, Amazon’s music platform), according to data from the statistics firm Statista.

As of March 31, 2023, the platform had 5.6 million subscribers worldwide, including 3.5 million in France, according to his figures.

The price of subscriptions revised upwards

Remember that last September, Deezer also changed its economic model, modifying the remuneration model for artists, for a fairer distribution of copyright. With the consequence, an increase in the prices of its subscriptions, as its competitors had done.

Thus, the premium rate increased by one euro per month, from 10.99 to 11.99 euros, while the family rate increased from 17.99 euros to 19.99 euros.
