DeepCool reveals LCD air coolers and flagship Assassin IV

Many maintenance-free liquid cooling systems for CPUs have digital displays that provide information about the status of the CPU. But air coolers do not have this feature. DeepCool decided to correct this injustice, which brought to CES 2023 a lot of air cooling systems equipped with so-called “smart” digital displays.

The displays sit on top of the heatsink and require one free 4-pin PWM header on the motherboard to operate, where additional PWM-enabled fans are usually connected. Additionally, one 3-pin ARGB backlight connector is required.

DeepCool showed several models of coolers of various sizes, equipped with similar digital displays with frosted glass. The company has not announced when such novelties will appear on free sale.

The highlight of the show at the DeepCool booth was the new Assassin IV CPU cooler. Its single-tower design features seven 6mm thermally conductive copper tubes. The cooler radiator is cooled by two fans with a diameter of 140 and 120 mm.

The company claims that the novelty is able to cope with the removal of 280 watts of thermal power and can compete with the 240 mm LSS in terms of efficiency. In other words, Assassin IV is quite capable of cooling the older models of AMD Ryzen 7000 and Intel Raptor Lake processors. How close this statement will be to reality will be shown by future independent tests.
