Dee Bost Departs Asvel: Villeurbanne’s Revival Mission Cut Short

2023-08-16 09:34:40

Seven months to the day following his arrival, Dee Bost is already leaving Asvel. Villeurbanne announced on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with its leader (1.89 m, 33 years old) to end his contract.

The native of North Carolina, who has become a Bulgarian international, arrived on the banks of the Rhône on January 16, from Galatasaray, to revive the team led by TJ Parker, following the failure of Parker Jackson-Cartwright, one of the key recruits for the summer of 2022.

A mission accomplished in the Championship (12.1 points and 3.2 average assists) but not in the Euroleague, where Bost did not prevent Asvel from ending the season with 13 defeats in a row. Weighed down by the absence of Nando De Colo, Villeurbanne was then eliminated in the semi-finals of Betclic Elite, by Boulogne-Levallois.

Very active since the beginning of the summer, the Rhodaniens had recorded three arrivals on the back lines: the ex-Monegasque Paris Lee, the former New Orleans Pelicans player, Frank Jackson, and the return of promising Noam Yaacov from loan. (19 years old).
