A notable decrease in visa application procedures was recorded at the Mexican embassy in Havana last September.
The decrease in the number of requests was published by the Aztec diplomatic delegation itself, which, in turn, made a summary of the ninth month of the year.
According to the profile on X, formerly Twitter, of the Mexican consulate in Cuba, only 382 visas were approved in all categories. In this case, the information refers to permits for family ties and tourism, among others. To give you a more exact idea of the drastic decrease in these procedures to obtain a visa, in July 960 were extended and in August 1,696. It was also announced that in September 668 document legalizations were processed.
The permanent diplomatic delegation in Cuba added in its report that no births of Mexican citizens were registered on the Island during last September. Meanwhile, only seven passports of the same nationality were delivered to people who requested them at its headquarters.
Possible causes
One of the possible causes cited by consular officials is, perhaps, the move of their headquarters to a new location. Now, the offices are located on Calle 18, #507, between 5th and 7th, Miramar, Playa. The change was made to improve services in all aspects.
Both Cuban and Mexican citizens have a much more central location to attend to their consular needs and requests.
In its offices, the new headquarters offers several services. For example, visa applications, legalizations and passport renewals are processed. Likewise, procedures such as birth registration and public faith functions will be facilitated.
The consular authorities suggest that you consult the corresponding information before carrying out a procedure. The specific details of each process may vary, so it’s essential to stay on top of things.
