The Bouffement Bon team in Chicoutimi-Nord will prepare half a ton of chicken wings this week. It’s double last year for the Super Bowl and possibly the best week in seven years for owners.

It’s going to heat up in the kitchen at Chez Bouffement Bon. An employee, Isabelle Desjardins sees so many chicken wings that she almost dreams of them at night.

“It’s like when you pick blueberries in the summer, but I see chicken wings,” she explained, bursting out laughing.

Since Quebec announced a relaxation of the measures and the end of the limits of gatherings at home, the telephone does not ring off at this caterer specializing in prepared meals and butchery products.

“People call us, it seems like they have no limit. They tell us, bring two kilos, it doesn’t matter. I invite lots of people. We celebrate the déconfinement. It’s like joy,” observed the co-owner of the business, Sandra Tremblay.

“When the government announced the deconfinement and they announced that as of Saturday, we might invite the number of people we wanted in the homes, the phone started ringing, said Ms. Tremblay. We had ordered 200 kilos, but now we have reached 500 kilos. We’re going to make 500 kilos of chicken wings for Sunday, she added with a laugh. I think that with the deconfinement, we will go beyond Christmas.

In any case, the employees are not idle, starting with its co-owner. “My spouse started cooking them yesterday because the fryer won’t stop all day or tomorrow and not Sunday either. It’s a big rush. We did not expect that, but we take what happens, ”she explained.

In restaurants too, the championship game will be good. “Starting to welcome people in groups once more through the Super Bowl is great,” said Félix Savard, manager of the Restaurant-Bar Le Stade de Chicoutimi.

In its establishment, the 120 places authorized have all found takers for the match on Sunday.

“Despite the fact that we are going to respect the 50% capacity, people can no longer regroup. It will improve the atmosphere. We are very happy. These are steps forward, believes Félix Savard. Some have booked for 4am, 5am, 6am. There are some who will come to see the Canadian game. It makes for a very pleasant sporting day. »

For some restaurants, if American football becomes a good investment once more, for others it is the Valentine’s Day lovers, even for Monday evening when reservations are high, who will be seated at their tables.
