Declawed Lions in Jacksonville

The Trois-Rivières Lions were helpless in the third period of their Saturday game in Jacksonville, giving the Icemen four goals to lose 5-1.

The team affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens was still in the game following 40 minutes, they who benefited from a 1-1 tie.

Shortly before halfway through the third period, Colin Bilek even brought the two teams back to square one, responding to the success of Derek Lodermeier, for the crowd favorites.

The Icemen, however, took the lead with a three-goal streak in 1:51. Lodermeier, with his second of the match, started this push. Then, 85 seconds later, Cristiano DiGiacinto, who had also hit the target in the first period, gave his side a two-goal lead. Ara Nazarian completed it all, 26 seconds later.

Goaltender Joe Vrbetic was the victim of the Icemen, he gave up five times on 27 shots, including four times on 12 shots in the third period. His vis-à-vis, Olof Lindbom, only had to make 16 saves.

The masked man of the local team will also have little to reproach himself on the first net of the Lions, on the power play, in the first period.

Defender Alex Breton then gave himself the air of Bobby Orr by transporting the puck from one end of the ice to the other, serving a cup of coffee to an opposing player in addition to bypassing another like a cone orange, before shaking the ropes.

The Lions will have the chance to recover Sunday, in Orlando, by visiting the Solar Bears.
