The curfew It will be in effect from 11:59 p.m. today, until 6 a.m. on Monday, March 20.. Curfew-like restrictions are expected from Thursday, March 23 to Monday, March 27.
The measure will apply to the area of the city bounded by 23 Street and Dade Boulevard on the north (including properties facing the north side of 23 Street or Dade Boulevard), Government Cut on the south, Biscayne Bay on the west, and the Atlantic to the east, according to a report issued by local authorities.
As it became known, the curfew shall not apply to the provision of essential services“such as fire, police and hospital services, including transporting patients to them, emergency repairs of public services, and emergency calls by doctors”.
“The curfew will not apply to people who travel to their places of employment to report to work and return to their residences after finishing their work,” detailed the Miami Beach authorities.
Why did it get to this extreme?
This weekend two people were killed in two shootings near Ocean Drivein Miami Dade County (Florida, USA), where a crowd of people celebrated the Spring Break holidays.
On Saturday night, according to several witnesses who were in a restaurant near where the events took place, between five and seven shots were heardwhich generated panic among those who celebrated in the crowded area.
