Deckenbacher/Keri ad Sittenwächter: Viennese SPÖ continues to look the other way

Fatal developments must be combated specifically – no tolerance for violence once morest women

Vienna (OTS) “Another despicable attack by a so-called moral guardian in Brigittenau. And once once more those responsible in the district are just glossing over the problems instead of finally solving them at the root,” said the district party leader of the Brigittenau People’s Party, MP Romana Deckenbacher, in response to today’s article in the “Kronen Zeitung” .

All that is said is that measures are being considered. The usual call for more police was also made reflexively. “It is therefore obvious that the change at the top of the district from Hannes Derfler to Christine Dubravac-Widholm did not bring any positive political impulses and the head continues to be buried in the sand,” continued Deckenbacher.

The massive failings of the Vienna city government, especially in education and integration policy, are evident. And such fatal developments are the result of these years of inaction. However, the police can only mitigate the symptoms of a lack of action by the city government and act as a ‘fire extinguisher’.

Violence once morest women is unacceptable

Violence once morest women in particular is a virulent issue in our society, which is becoming apparent once once more in light of these incidents. “There simply cannot be any tolerance in this context. Every effort must be made to ensure that girls and women in Vienna are safe and do not have to live in fear. We owe this negative development in our city for women and girls primarily to the whitewashing policy of the red-pink city government. In this context, measures at all levels are essential and more than overdue,” said the women’s spokesperson for the Vienna People’s Party, local councilor Sabine Keri.
