Decisive week announced for the start of Phase B of the Pilar Coastal Defense

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Government, through the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, is promoting the construction of Phase B of the Pilar Coastal Defense, a crucial project valued at more than G. 372,000 million.

The call, called “Construction of the Storm Sewer and Sewage Drainage System and Wastewater Treatment Plant” with ID No. 453,470, is to continue the successful Phase A, which already provided the city with a comprehensive system of water control against floods.

In this framework, the MOPC Contracting Operational Unit expects the receipt of the offers on Wednesday, October 23 for inspection, and on Friday the 25th for the works to be carried out, both at the Single Entry Table of the central building, at 1:00 p.m. :00.

The Pilar Coastal Defense represents a definitive solution to the historic floods caused by the flooding of the Paraguay River and the Ñeembucú stream, consolidating itself as a crucial infrastructure work for the sustainable development of the capital of the department of Ñeembucú.

Project scope

This new stage includes the construction of an extensive infrastructure network that includes 13,738 linear meters of storm sewers and 136,567 meters of sewage drainage pipes. In addition to 25 pumping stations, a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and a subfluvial outfall that will extend 300 meters over the Paraguay River. The project has an execution period of 24 months, with the possibility of extension until 2027.

Work is expected to begin at the end of this year or early 2025, generating a significant impact on the economic development and quality of life in the region.

This component is part of a comprehensive plan that will include a future Phase C, which contemplates the construction of a 12-kilometer coastal avenue and a linear park, whose tender is scheduled for 2025.
