While the Quebec Advisory Committee on Climate Change has issued a recommendation suggesting that Quebec decarbonize freight transportation, many companies are questioning their strategy regarding the delivery of goods.
This is notably the case of the delivery company Nationex which acquired the electric truck company Courant earlier this month.
This addition will allow it to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
“We are going to invest millions, both in electrical infrastructure, because these trucks have to be loaded, and in the purchase of vehicles,” says its president and general manager, Catryn Pinard. But we want to participate, we know that our industry is an industry that pollutes a lot.”
Courant plus has been producing 100% electric delivery trucks for four years.
“At the beginning, when we launched the company, there were a lot of people who thought we would fail following six months,” says its co-founder, Clément Sabuorin. We tested technologies that didn’t necessarily work at first, but we demonstrated that they worked.”
It is not the only company to produce such trucks which have an increasingly greater range.
Those from the Lion Québec company can also drive over a distance of 400 kilometers with a single recharge.
