A few days ago all human life should have come to an end on earth. That was obviously not the case.
On June 21, 2018, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, then 15 years old, tweeted a text by a “top climate scientist”. He warns that humanity will be wiped out in five years if the use of fossil fuels is not ended.
The ultimatum expired this weekfossil fuels are still in use, and humanity is still enjoying life.
Thunberg later deleted the tweet. He is can still be found in the web archive. Screenshots of it are also circulating.
Skeptics of man-made climate change threatening the globe happily point out the wrong prognosis.
Now “fact checkers” are rushing to help Greta Thunberg. The news agency AP criticizes a “lack of context”. The icon of the climate movement didn’t say the world would end in five years. But “only” that humanity will be wiped out if the change is not made in this time.
The article to which she referred was also a misinterpretation of the scientist’s statements. This did not warn of the end of the world, but only of irreparable damage.
Which, of course, does not change the fact that Thunberg uncritically accepted the impending apocalypse for 2023 in 2018 and spread it with its wide reach.
The critics of the climate hysterics would be slapped around the ears as lousy research. But the Swede can count on the creativity of fact checkers.
