The debates will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Justitia in Haren, where the proceedings of the Brussels Assize Court will begin a few hours earlier on the subject of the sentences to be imposed on the eight of the ten accused of the attacks of March 22, 2016 found guilty.
Counsel for Salah Abdeslam consider that such a transfer would violate Articles 3, 6, 8 and/or 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights. They will therefore ask the civil court, sitting in summary proceedings, to prohibit the Belgian State from transferring their client to France at the end of the proceedings before the Brussels Assize Court, and to authorize him to execute in Belgium the sentence that was pronounced once morest him in Paris.
Salah Abdeslam was sentenced there on June 29, 2022 to an incompressible life sentence for his role in the attacks of November 13, 2015 in the French capital. He was then transferred to a Belgian prison so that he might appear at his trial for the attacks of March 22, 2016 in Brussels, which began at Justitia in Haren last December. On July 25, Salah Abdeslam was found guilty by the jury of assizes, murder and attempted murder in a terrorist context and membership in a terrorist group.
