The phenomenon of repeated thefts, robberies and drug use in the Beirut region, particularly in the Beirut Horsh district, has aroused concern among citizens of the region, some of whom have decided to oppose to these operations in order to put an end to what is happening. .

In this context, MP Ibrahim Mneimneh said in an interview with “Lebanon Debate”: “We know that the state is almost absent from what is happening in the Beirut region, especially in the harsh region of Beirut, and that’s why we met the governor yesterday. of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, and we raised the question of what some “young people in the region are doing to deal with incidents that disrupt security, and we stressed that this case might take negative dimensions”.

He added: “We informed the governor of Beirut of the seriousness of this problem and discussed how to tackle it. He in turn assured us of the difficulty of the situation and the challenges they are facing, and that they are doing their best to resolve the issues within existing capabilities.

That is why, in this context, Representative Mneimneh calls for “the need for the State to be present with all its agencies, because it is the body responsible for managing this issue, and therefore the phenomenon of self-security cannot be adopted even if people try to protect themselves and maintain the security of the region, but they must realize that the seriousness of this behavior can lead us to very serious consequences later, so it is important to cooperate with the security services and that the State does what it can. intervene directly in this matter.
