In the evening hours yesterday, the Port Authority of Chania was informed that an 80-year-old local woman was pulled unconscious from the “VLITE” marine area of Souda. The 80-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to Chania General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Central Port Authority of Chania, which conducts the preliminary investigation, ordered a necropsy.
In the followingnoon hours yesterday, the Port Authority of Karystos was informed regarding 60 years of citizenship, who lost consciousness following coming out of the sea at “KREMALA” beach in Karystos. The 60-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to Karystos General Hospital “DIOKLEIO”, where her death was confirmed, while the body is to be transferred to the Forensic and Toxicology Laboratory of the Medical School of Athens for a necropsy-necropsy. A preliminary investigation is carried out by the Port Authority of Karystos.
In the early hours of today, a patrol vessel LS-EL.AKT., which was on a scheduled patrol, was informed by a land-based camera surveillance team of the Port Authority of Symi, regarding the existence of a high-speed (T/X) vessel with a capable number of passengers, who were moving at high speed, without navigation lights, towards the northwestern coast of Symi, in the “DIAPORI” sea area.

The T/X was then immobilized and the crew of the patrol boat rounded up seventeen (17) foreign passengers (13 men, 3 women and 1 minor), who were safely transported to the port of Symi. According to their statement, they had started from Datsa in Turkey, paying the sum of four thousand euros (€4,000) each for their transport to Greece. A 46-year-old foreigner was arrested by the Symi Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, as the operator of the vessel, while the T/X was seized.
