A new update for the final version of Death Stranding Director’s Cut, the first game developed by Kojima Productions, is live, introducing support for the latest version of Intel XeSS, DualSense Edge support, and more.

The new 5GB big update that went live yesterday introduced support for Intel XeSS 1.1, which brings improved time stability to the XeSS DP4a and XMX models. In addition, the update reduces ghosting, moiré, and flickering for better visuals, and supports DualSense Edge. To use the full functionality of the controller, players need to disable the Steam input and connect the controller with a USBC cable.

After the release of the Death Stranding director’s cut, Hideo Kojima and his team announced a direct sequel to the game, which will apparently be released sometime in 2024. Hideo Kojima himself said it wouldn’t be a sequel to a regular title, completely rewritten in the wake of the pandemic, because stories written before then wouldn’t resonate with players.

In addition to new entries in the series, a Death Stranding movie adaptation is also in the works. Kojima received many offers, but eventually settled with Alex Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios because he was the only one who suggested a more artistic approach to making the film. There aren’t many decisions yet to be made regarding the film in late 2022, but what Kojima intends to do is take the film in an unprecedented direction in terms of video game adaptations.
