Hideo Kojima has revealed that he had written Death Stranding 2 history before the Covid-19 attack, but ended up rewriting it following experiencing the ravages caused by the global pandemic. Kojima’s statement came in response to fans pointing out the peculiar similarities between the themes of his game and the events that take place in the future following its release, often joking that Kojima can see into the future.
Kojima does not want to predict the future with the story of Death Stranding 2
“I had the story written before the pandemic, but following going through it, I rewrote it from scratch,” explains Kojima. “I didn’t want to predict any further future either, so I rewrote it.” Some aspects of Death Stranding 1 came to fruition when Covid-19 caused lockdowns around the world. Disturbing images of empty roads and buildings made headlines as people turned to delivery services instead of shopping in stores.
Back in the day, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty addressed the issue of misinformation (or “fake news”) and how quickly it can spread, something that is now a reality as social networks like Twitter and Facebook clash to intense scrutiny for its management of fact-checking and promotion of misleading claims.
Good thing Kojima rewrote Death Stranding 2.
