Riyadh – For the first time in years, a death sentence has been carried out in Saudi Arabia during the Muslim month of fasting, Ramadan. According to state media, the execution took place five days following the start of Ramadan on March 28 in the Medina region. The European Saudi Organization for Human Rights (Esohr) said on Monday, citing figures from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of the Interior, that it was the first execution during Ramadan since 2009.
