Death of President Raisi: Iranian military chief orders investigation into helicopter crash

Various countries around the world, including Pakistan, have expressed their condolences to Iran over the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash, while the Supreme Leader of Iran has announced five days of mourning in the country.

Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, China, Qatar, India, Russia, Turkey, Syria, Malaysia, Spain, Lebanon and the European Union have expressed their grief over the death of the Iranian president.

AFP reported, citing Iranian news agency Asna, that Mohammad Baqeri on Monday “ordered a high-level committee to begin an investigation into the causes of the accident that befell the president’s helicopter.”

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, the last rites of President Raisi and his colleagues who died in a helicopter crash will be performed in Tabriz on Tuesday.

According to IRNA, the funeral prayers of President Raisi and his colleagues will be offered in Tabriz on Tuesday morning at 9:30 local time, following which the body of Ibrahim Raisi will be taken to Tehran.

Five days of mourning announced in Iran
