He died at his home in Sacré-Coeur following a short illness. He had been admitted to the Chicoutimi hospital last December but wanted to end his days at home.

This self-taught artist became known for his paintings depicting the landscapes of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and the Côte-Nord. He is described as a virtuoso of color shades.
