“It’s another tragedy that shakes the family,” said the man who became famous by personifying the King on stage for almost three decades.

Martin Fontaine believes that Lisa Marie has never recovered from the death of her son, Benjamin Keough, who took his own life at the age of 27, in July 2020.

“We saw her at the Golden Globes (Tuesday night). She looked sad, confused, unhappy. I think she died of grief.”

The only meetings between Martin Fontaine and Lisa Marie Presley took place in Las Vegas, in 2015, as part of a series of performances of the show Elvis Experience au Westgate Resort & Casino.

The first was unremarkable. It was at the party following the show and Lisa Marie was standing far away, seated, in the background. “You feel that it is a person who was withdrawn.”

Martin Fontaine retains better memories of the second, which happened by chance in a restaurant a few days later. She had seemed much less wary and warmer to him.

“She had recognized me, told me that I was almost part of the family and that she had liked the show. I was happy that she enjoyed the show.”
