Patrick (Paddy) Lohan, a cherished member of the Athlone community, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. PaddyS heroic battle with illness was marked by remarkable dignity and unwavering faith. “In iothlainn Dé go gcastar sinn.” Born a native of Coalpits, creggs, Co. Galway, Paddy later made his home in Bealnamulla, Athlone. His warm presence touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love. He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Delia (Cunniffe), and his sisters, Kathleen and Rose. Paddy is deeply mourned by his devoted wife, Rosaleen (Naughten), and their children: Diarmuid, Damien, Brendan, and rosie. He was a beloved grandfather to his adored grandchildren: Áine, Paidí, Aoife, Daithí, Chloé, and Emma. Paddy is survived by his sisters, Mary (Fallon), Anne (Lohan), Margaret (Muldoon), and Breege (Mulligan), as well as his brother, Micky. His daughters-in-law, Elaine and Michelle, also share in the grief of their loss. Paddy will be deeply missed by his many nephews, nieces, cousins, and a wide circle of friends whose lives he touched with his infectious spirit and genuine warmth. Reposing will take place at St. Bridget’s Funeral Home Brideswell (N37 EK88) on monday, January 6th, from 4:30 pm, with removal at 6:30 pm to St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Athlone, arriving at 7:00 pm.A mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm, followed by burial in Drum Cemetery.
