According to the Metropolitan Police Department, following 3:00 pm on the 4th of this month, Kazuo Tabata (79), who lives in Wako City, Saitama Prefecture, was driving a car while drinking alcohol on the street of Asahi-cho, Nerima Ward, and was riding a bicycle. He is suspected of causing death by dangerous driving and of hit-and-run.
The suspect was identified because a security camera in the surrounding area showed a one-box type car driving away at the time of the accident.
In response to the investigation, he said, “I drank alcohol and drove a car.”
There was eyewitness information that the car collided with and dragged a man on a bicycle, and Mr. Tabata fell down regarding 280 meters from the place where he collided, so the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the detailed situation at that time.
