The suspension of the management of BEM FISIP Unair was finally lifted, after a meeting was held between the Dean of FISIP Unair and the management of BEM FISIP Unair.

The revocation of the suspension was conveyed by the Dean of FISIP Unair Bagong Suyanto in front of journalists accompanied by all BEM FISIP Unair administrators.

“Essentially, this very moment the Dean will revoke the Decree Suspension of the Management of BEM FISIP Unair,” said the Dean of FISIP Unair to the media crew at a meeting with BEM administrators, Monday (28/10).

Bagong said that as a result of the meeting, the Dean and BEM FISIP Unair agreed that in the future they no longer wanted to develop a culture of political life that used harsh diction.

“So we agreed to choose to use diction that suits academic culture,” he said.

He understands that conveying aspirations carried out by BEM FISIP Unair is BEM’s right to voice their aspirations.

“Aspirations must still pay attention to limitations. “As Dean and the Dean, I ensure that BEM does not forget its academic dignity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chair of BEM FISIP Unair, Tuffahati Ullayyah, said that after the revocation of the Decree on Freezing the Management of BEM FISIP Unair, his party ensured that it would remain critical.

“We have spoken earlier that BEM FISIP will remain critical in the future, with that, it will not leave the academic corridor,” he said.
Tuffaa said that the satirical wreath for Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka which was put up to congratulate the inauguration, was a form of aspiration from FISIP Unair students, and a form of expression from the Ministry of Politics and Strategic Studies at BEM FISIP Unair.

“We will continue to strengthen solidarity, that BEM FISIP friends must be strong, must be strong and must remain brave in the future, must maintain their critical values by not abandoning those academic values,” he said.

As is known, the suspension of the management of BEM FISIP Unair was carried out by the Dean on October 25, after previously BEM FISIP Unair put up a satirical wreath for Prabowo-Gibran. (FL/J-3)

**Interview with Dean ⁤Bagong Suyanto⁢ on the Revocation of ⁤BEM FISIP Unair’s Suspension**

**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Dean Bagong Suyanto. Can you⁢ tell us what led⁤ to the decision to lift the suspension of BEM FISIP Unair?

**Dean Suyanto:** Thank you ‌for‌ having me. The decision to lift⁤ the suspension followed ⁣a constructive dialogue between the Faculty management and the BEM FISIP Unair administrators. We recognized the importance of student representation⁤ and engagement in‌ university ⁤governance, and it was essential to resolve misunderstandings in a collaborative manner.

**Editor:** What specific outcomes⁤ do you hope to achieve with this resolution moving forward?

**Dean Suyanto:**‌ Our primary aim is to foster a healthy political culture within the university. We want to ensure that student organizations, like BEM, can operate freely, ⁢engage in meaningful discussions, ⁣and contribute positively to the campus environment. We agreed to work together⁤ to establish clear ⁤guidelines that promote ⁣respect and cooperation among‌ all parties involved.

**Editor:** There has been a history of tension regarding political⁤ activities within student organizations. How do ⁣you ‍plan to manage this moving forward?

**Dean Suyanto:** It’s crucial for us to create a space where diverse ‍opinions can coexist ‍while maintaining respect⁢ for one ⁣another. We will be hosting workshops and meetings⁤ to ⁤encourage open dialogue, and⁣ we will also ‌involve⁣ external experts to guide us in developing a framework that promotes healthy political discourse.

**Editor:** What ⁤message do you want⁤ to convey to the students‌ regarding the future⁢ of BEM and their role in the university?

**Dean Suyanto:** I encourage students to be proactive and involved in their ⁤student government. BEM‍ is not just a representation⁤ of their voices; it’s ⁢a platform for them to enact change and push for progress.⁣ We⁣ are here to support⁣ their initiatives and ensure that they feel empowered to ⁢make a difference ⁤in our university ‌community.

**Editor:**⁣ Thank you, Dean Suyanto, for your time ⁢and insights. We look forward to seeing how ⁣this partnership evolves.

**Dean Suyanto:**⁤ Thank you. I’m optimistic about our ‍future collaboration.
**Dean Suyanto:** I hope to foster a more harmonious relationship between the administration and student organizations like BEM. By working together, we can encourage a culture of dialogue instead of confrontation. We want BEM FISIP Unair to express their aspirations and critique policies while maintaining respect for academic values and dignity. Our goal is to create an environment where students feel empowered to voice their opinions constructively.

**Editor:** You mentioned in your statement that moving forward, you wish to avoid harsh political diction. Why is this important, and how do you plan to implement it?

**Dean Suyanto:** It’s crucial to ensure that the language we use reflects our academic environment. Harsh rhetoric can lead to misunderstandings and conflict, rather than constructive discussions. We will encourage BEM and all student organizations to adopt a more respectful and academic tone in their communications. This approach will help us uphold the academic integrity of our institution and promote a culture of mutual respect.

**Editor:** Chair of BEM FISIP Unair, Tuffahati Ullayyah, expressed a commitment to remain critical while adhering to academic values. How do you see the role of BEM evolving from here?

**Dean Suyanto:** I appreciate Tuffahati and her team’s commitment to maintaining critical engagement. BEM should act as a bridge between students and administration, facilitating discussions on important issues while respecting the existing academic framework. We encourage them to take an active role in academic discourse and student welfare while also acknowledging the importance of constructive criticism.

**Editor:** What advice would you give to the students of FISIP Unair in balancing their activism with academic responsibilities?

**Dean Suyanto:** My advice would be to always aim for a balance between passion for advocacy and dedication to their studies. Activism and academics are not mutually exclusive; they can complement each other. Students should harness their experiences and observations in their activism to enrich their understanding in the classroom. Engaging thoughtfully and respectfully in both arenas will ultimately lead to a more fulfilling university experience.

**Editor:** Thank you, Dean Suyanto, for your insights and commitment to fostering a positive environment for student expression at FISIP Unair.

**Dean Suyanto:** Thank you for having me. I look forward to seeing how our students will continue to develop as engaged and thoughtful leaders.
