Dealers complained about the shortage of spare parts for popular car brands in Russia. The heads of several large Russian dealer companies told this to an Autonews.ru correspondent on condition of anonymity.
As one of the dealers told Autonews.ru, the company has accumulated a lot of pre-trial claims from the owners of Mercedes cars, who cannot repair their cars on time. At the same time, it is impossible to bring these components even through parallel imports.
“The main problems are with control units, gearboxes, ABS, airbags. But the problem is not only with the premium: we have been waiting for the radiator grille on the Vokswagen Touareg for three months. All this creates problems for drivers: they want to drive and not be afraid that the car can get stuck at the service station for several months at any time,” the source said.
According to another dealer, there are problems with Genesis cars.
“The Koreans have not announced they are leaving the market, but there are no spare parts for them. Even the supplier recommended to me by Hyundai itself supplied us for only a few months, then the supply stopped. Or a Mercedes-Maybach S-class: the owner got the car in an accident. We are waiting for three spare parts from the United Arab Emirates, four more from Europe. The car ended up sitting in the garage for eight months. The owners of such cars are not used to such an attitude, ”he said.
As Autonews.ru found out earlier, by the end of March, car components in Russia rose in price by an average of 19.5% over the year, and some sources indicate even higher figures. The trend towards higher repair costs has affected all foreign cars without exception, especially American and European models. Moreover, original components are still expensive, although analogues after a sharp increase in cost have slightly decreased in price. For example, the average cost of a Nissan tailgate has increased by 80% since March 2022, Hyundai headlights by 47%, Mitsubishi chassis front wiring by 67%, and Kia headlights and doors by 36-40%.
First of all, consumables such as filters, brake discs and pads increased in price. At the same time, against the backdrop of market saturation in recent months, the cost of these spare parts began to gradually decline, although it is still very far from the indicators of the beginning of last year.
Autonews.ru also reported on the shortage of spare parts for Chinese cars, which may be due to the unavailability of catalogs for service stations.
