Deadpool & Wolverine is officially released. The film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is predicted to restore the glory of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which has been destroyed in recent times.
It wasn’t until November 2023 that the studio hit a rough patch, suffering its lowest opening ever. The Marvels, starring Brie Larson, grossed just $46.1 million domestically and $110 million worldwide.
Trying to forget that bad record, Marvels Studio is now planning Deadpool & Wolverine’s revenue of US$160 million to US$170 million in the opening weekend alone. If achieved, it will place the film as the highest-grossing R-rated or restricted film in history. Previously, the record was held by the first Deadpool film with US$132.4 million.
Meanwhile, in the global scope, revenue is targeted to reach US$180 million so that, in total, the figure targeted by Marvels Studio reaches US$340 million in the opening week.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be showing in Indonesian cinemas starting today, Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The film tells the story of the collaboration of two main mutants in the Marvel universe. Deadpool & Wolverine are also said to be the key to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Z-11)
