Deadly Suicide Bombing Near Mosque in Pakistan’s Balochistan province – Latest Updates and News

Islamabad: Local media reported that 52 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in a suicide bombing near a mosque in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Pakistan’s Dawn reported quoting the assistant commissioner of Mustang district that the blast occurred as people gathered for a religious procession to mark Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in Mustang district of southwestern province. According to local cops, Mastung’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gashkori was among the dead.

It is reported that a suicide bomb exploded near the car of a police officer who was on duty. Balochistan Interim Information Minister Jan Achakzai said a rescue team has been sent to Mastung. It is reported that the seriously injured are being taken to Quetta and emergency has been declared in all hospitals. Caretaker Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki directed the authorities to arrest those responsible for the blast.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Imran Ismail came out strongly condemning the blast. He said that those who end the lives of innocent people are criminals and terrorists. Earlier this month, 11 people were injured in an explosion in the same district. Pakistan faced the most attacks in August this year. This is the highest number of monthly attacks since 2014. Looking at the first eight months of 2023, there have been 22 suicide attacks in Pakistan so far. 227 people were killed and 497 people were injured.
